My personal aim is to compare and contrast the modernist and versatile approaches to the ordering of traffic. This essay is going to focus on the 2 approaches in depth and the comparison between them. I will use statistical evidence and the case study " The Drachten experiment” to compliment my solution. I will also use evidence from chapter six of " Making Cultural Lives”, written by Elizabeth B. Silva. The two different methods to the buying of targeted traffic are the Buchanan Report, a modernist way, and the Monderman thesis, a flexible approach. Equally Buchanan and Monderman addresses similar concerns but supporter very different solutions to the issue of visitors management. Around 1962 Colin Buchanan, an industrial engineer, was commissioned by the UK Government to get started on work on targeted traffic problems. It was because the volume of automobiles on the UK roads was growing, this is certainly evident when dealing with statistical info from 1949-2006.
